Sharz.net, which has taken many steps to accelerate the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Turkey, provided advice and warnings to electric vehicle owners living in sites and apartments. Many electric vehicle owners have been unable to install charging units in their homes due to claims that a majority of 4/5 property owners is required, as stated by site managers and site administrations. The Ministry of Environment, Urban Planning, and Climate Change has issued a clarification.
Sharz.net General Coordinator Ayşe Ece Şengönül stated that rather than a new regulation, the Ministry has clarified the situation by reminding existing regulations. "Instead of a new decision, existing regulations were reminded by the Ministry, and the situation causing confusion was clarified. As stated by our Ministry, the installation of charging units in sites and apartments does not qualify as a structure requiring a license, so a majority vote is sufficient. Additionally, in sites with designated parking spaces, wall-mounted charging units or charging stations already in place in separate designated parking areas of houses do not require a board decision. We recommend consulting with EPDK-licensed companies for proper and healthy installation. We thank the Ministry for shedding light on important issues to promote the widespread use of electric vehicles," she said.
